Sim Storytellers Challenge 001 and 004

I haven't been able to participate in one of simstorytellers weekly challenges because I've barely had time to play the Sims these last few weeks. And most of that "gaming" time has been actually spent fixing my neighborhood instead of playing.

Since I'm finally able to play with my sims, I've been taking a few "flashback" pictures for future Broke updates. And when I found out today's prompt, I figured one of those pictures might work with it.

So, here are two drabbles. Man! It's been over a year since I last wrote a drabble! I'm not good at writing short stuff, but it's nice to try out a challenge now and then, right?

Both of these drabbles are related to the Broke Legacy. The second one has strong hints of what's coming up in the story ;).




Challenge 001: Welcome
Word Count: 89

It only took a warm gesture.
A gesture from a man who truly understood what being an outcast means.
A man who, despite the strong prejudice against his kind, had been able to start a new life here.
A life illuminated by the promise of a better future.

It only took that warm gesture to erase any trace of doubt from Beau's heart.
He had finally found a place where his “curse” would be no more.
He had finally found a place he would call home.

Challenge 004: Blame
Word Count: 142
Mild Spoilers for the Broke Legacy


He found it hidden between the bills and his sister’s belated Christmas card.
It was an empty white envelope. There was no way to know who it was sent to.
Somehow, Cosmo was certain that it was sent to him.
With trembling hands, he opened the envelope. There was only a single sheet of paper inside.
When he recognized the distinctive handwriting, he felt his blood freeze.
Terrified, he looked around for any signs of their presence.
But he was only surrounded by silence and nothing else.





The message was brief,

The exchange has been done. Your debt has been paid.

But its few words were strong enough to make him drop on his knees.
And as Cosmo Broke quietly sobbed, he thought of the innocent souls who were now suffering the consequences of his actions.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

I'll try to post an update as soon as possible. I'm done with my monthly reports and I'd like to have a new chapter ready by May 5th (the Broke's anniversary... yikes!).

Oh... so you also have an idea? Well, we'll see if you guessed right on the next update! ;)
