Rose Mary just couldn't believe her bad luck...

What an awful day!
First, she had failed her Math exam. Those equations were so hard!
And to make things worse, she had been fired from the Midnight Flows Café!
It wasn't her fault that she was so tired from her studies and rehearsals that she dropped a cup of coffee over the karaoke machine!
Oh well... perhaps it was her fault.
But things had been just so crazy lately.
She was just glad to be back at home.
Although she was really looking forward to a rec letter from her boss to the Admission Office at Academie Le Tour.

Well... that was just a thing of the past.
And despite the sucky nature of the day, she was really hoping things would improve that night.
There were two good reasons for that!
The first one being her boyfriend, Buck, who was actually enjoying a free day from his job at SimBurger.
Buck was a mature guy, so he was the best person she could look for to talk about her problems.
He listened to her as she ranted over and over about her stupid ex-job.
"I'm really sorry, Rosie. But well... it's their loss, right?"
"Right! Just wait until I become a music star... they'll then beg me to play at their shitty place! Speaking of... are you ready for tonight?"

"Oh man! Is it tonight?"
"Yes, Buck. I told you like... 50 times. You are gonna watch me at FM tonight, right? It's my first gig with the "Llama Ramas" and I'd love to see you there..."
"Oh Rosie, I'm so sorry! I already promised Tank I'd help him choose a suit for the Wedding..."
"Can't it wait for another day...?"
"I'm sorry, Rosie. I just forgot... I've been so busy helping Tank and Kristen with everything... and you know it's next week. And I really need to be there for Tank... not every day an older brother gets married, right?"
"Well, not every day your girlfriend has her professional debut with her band..."

"I'll make it up... once the whole wedding deal is over, I'll spend every second of my free time with you. I'll even ask my boss for a couple days off. And I'll see you at all your concerts!"
"Right... that is if the manager at FM likes us..."
"You know he will..."

Rose Mary had no other option but to perform at the FM without the support of her boyfriend.
She was so disappointed, because she wanted to show Buck how much she had improved ever since she joined Dawson's band.
And she had even written a couple songs for him... which he wouldn't listen now.

"The Llama Ramas" were offering her debut show at FM, a small karaoke café near Strangetown.
The manager, Nich Staton, often hired small, amateur bands to play live on certain days.
There was a rumor around Strangetown which said that Nick was good friends with the President of an important music studio.
If Dawson and his band impressed Nick, they could get the opportunity they had always dreamed of!

Besides Dawson and Rose Mary, the band also had a young drummer named Max Tyson.
Max was born at Pleasantview and had moved to Strangetown when he was 13.
He was Helena's age and quite popular with the ladies, despite his boyish face.

Nick was impressed by the Llama Ramas, and offered them a spot to play every two weeks for a couple months.
"Show me what you've got, guys and I'll make you a permanent part of FM. Who knows? Perhaps the next great rock band is sitting with me at this moment..."

Dawson and Max could barely hide their excitement.
"We did it, Dawson! We are gonna be famous!"
"Yeah!"

But Rose Mary wasn't as thrilled as them.
If only Buck had been here to see her triumph...

"Hey babe! What's with the long face! We've got to celebrate! Come on!"

A few drinks later, the Llama Ramas were giddy enough to celebrate their hiring through their favorite pastime: Karaoke.
They performed everything, from classic songs to the hippest R&B tracks.

And just as Max was offering an emotive interpretation of "Shoo Flee Pa Pa Pí"...

Dawson sat down next to Rose Mary.
"You're not being yourself, babe. Is there anything I can do...?"
"Nah! I'm just mad at my stupid boyfriend right now..."
"Oh... that Tuck guy, right?"
"His name is Buck..."
"Come here, Rosie... Just forget about him for a while. This is our night, after all..."

"All right... now, don't you feel better now?"
"Actually... I do. Thanks, Dawson..."
"Shhhh... just relax and enjoy the evening..."

Dawson pulled Rose Mary closer.
She could smell his peculiar aroma, mixed with alcohol and the aftershave he used.
It was so different from Buck's....
The way he held her in his arms... the way he whispered how gorgeous she was...
"Dawson... my boyfriend..."

"I know... let's... just enjoy this, babe..."- he whispered as he kissed her deeply.

Rose Mary forgot about her boyfriend.
And before she noticed it, she had fallen completely into Dawson's arms...

The Broke family was shocked when Wanda announced she was pregnant.
Despite her advanced age, she now had a baby growing inside his everyday larger tummy.
According to Cosmo, the Graslaxians have a longer reproductive period than the human race.
Perhaps Wanda's alien genes were behind this unexpected addition to the family.

Once the shock was over, the family was very excited by the arrival of a new baby.
Well, everyone but Rose Mary.
She just couldn't see what good a new baby would bring to her mother's career as a videogame designer.
"Your new FPS is coming out in just a couple months, Mom! You won't be able to show it around the world as you did last time! Aren't you sad about that?"
"Not really, Rosie. Nothing can compare to the joy of having a baby. Sure, I'll miss the press conferences and the release events, but there's always time for that in the future. For now, I'm gonna focus on your brother... something I should have done when you were young."

As she looked at her parents talk about the new nursery they were decorating for the baby, Rose Mary decided that she wasn't going to have a baby until she had a stable career as a musician. A kid would be a burden to a Rock Star, after all.

The rest of the family helped as much as they could with the preparations for the new baby.
With Buck out of the Hair Styling business, Wanda was worried she'd have to close her salon as soon as she gave birth to her son.
But once Helena showed her how much she had improved her styling skills through her "Sim Art", Wanda knew she had the perfect replacement for the few months she'd be out of the work scene.

But don't think that just because Helena was taking Wanda's place she stopped practicing her unique style.
Nope, pretty soon most of the people of Strangetown sported the results of Helena's odd view about human beauty.

And that's the reason why Tim showed some common sense and asked Buck (despite he was already retired as a stylist) to help him get ready for his big date with Opal.

With his new clothes and finally free from his pink cap, Tim was sure he'd impress Opal that night.
Or at least... that's what he hoped.

When he arrived to Londoste, he felt his heart shrink a little.
This was the place he had originally planned to take Marsha on the date that never happened.
But this wasn't a time to think about what didn't happen.
He was going to move on, right?

Opal was waiting for him at the door. She smiled when he approached her.
"You look awesome, Tim!"
"Ehh... thanks. You look pretty too, Opal."

Opal had gone to many fancy places during her childhood.
But none of them compared to Londoste.
"Wow, Tim! This place is beautiful!"

"Yeah... it really is. This is the first time I come here..."

"My Grandpa told me a lot about this restaurant when I was younger. He proposed to my Grandma Bella right here a million years ago..."
"That's so romantic! But you shouldn't had taken me here, Tim. I know it's very expensive..."
"Ah, don't worry... I've been saving for my first date since I was ten..."
"Awww, that's so sweet!"
Yeah... if only she were the reason he had saved money for so long.

Things were odd during the dinner.
Opal talked non-stop about her family, her friends and the activities she were involved in at Strangetown Academy.
For a moment, Tim felt like he had nothing in common with her. He had a hard time paying attention to what Opal said.
But then she mentioned her dreams of becoming an entertainment journalist, and that caught Tim's interest.
"That's why I'm often at Downtown, Tim. I just love going to concerts and the cinema, and there's no better place to find that."

"Oh! I also love going to the movies. My Uncle Andrew used to take me and my cousins to the matinee every Sunday. And I've seen so many old pictures with Grandpa Cosmo that I can name all the Golden Era actors without effort. I'm such a geek..."
"I think that's cute! And the reason you were hired as a movie critic at the school's paper. I'd love to write for them! Do you think they'd let me in?"
"Sure! Just give me an example of your writing and I'll give it to the editor."
"You'd do that for me, Tim? Thank you so much!"

Before Tim knew it, he had completely forgotten about Marsha and his broken heart.
His eyes were fixed on Opal’s nice smile and pretty green eyes.
He relaxed and just acted... like himself in front of her.

The hours just seemed to fly with Opal's company.

And when Tim shyly placed his hand in front of her, fearing a rejection...

... He was pleasantly surprised when she took it, giving it a gentle squeeze.

Her skin was so soft, and her touch so warm.
And for that instant, he didn't want to ever let her hand go.

He hugged tightly when the date was over.
"Thanks for everything, Tim. I had a great time..."
"You're welcome..."
This was it, the end of the date.
Should he walk her back to her house?
Should he take her hand?
Should he... kiss her?
But Tim didn't know how to kiss a girl!

It seemed like Opal read his mind, for she suddenly took the matter into her hands.

And once Opal left, after promising she'd be there for his big gig the following night, Tim felt happier than he had ever felt in his fifteen years of life.
Nothing could top this night and her soft kiss.
Nothing...

"Hey Buzz! Happy 60th Birthday!"
"Thank you, Broke..."
"So, how was the celebration?"
"Better than I expected. My sons made sure I had a nice time last night."

"Really?"
"Yeah. Buck prepared a huge dinner for us."

"And Tank and Kristen got a dog for me. Her name is Moody."
"A dog? That's great, Buzz."
"According to Kristen, a dog will keep me company once Buck leaves for college. And I think she's right."

"In the couple of hours I spent with Mood outside, I had more fun that I could ever remember. I'm actually planning to train her. If I trained hundreds of soldiers during my years at the Army, I should be able to teach Moody to sit."
"Pets are wonderful, indeed. I often spend hours with Bonkers, my daughter's old cat. So I see that you are getting along with Kristen now..."

"Yeah, I'm finally used to the idea of her being part of my family. Well... at least she's here now that Ripp has disappeared..."
"Don't think about that, Buzz. I'm sure Ripp will come back one day."
"He hasn't written in months... and no one from his expedition team knows where he is. I hope he's all right..."
"Andrew and Puck are already contacting people at Tiki Island. And Tank told you he'd contact the police... don't worry..."
"Yes... I must keep my hopes strong... it's just that sometimes I feel as if I were living what happened to Lyla all over again. I'm almost sure she's dead by now; although Buck is convinced she's still alive... despite being so many years without news about her. I miss her, Cosmo. Life hasn't been the same since the moment she left..."

"Yes... I understand how you feel. I miss Bella too..."

"Bella also left her husband, right? Or at least that's what my Grandfather told me..."
"Bella's life was a long and strange one, Buzz. As you said, she was married to Mortimer Goth long before I was even born. But destiny put her in the path of the Graslaxian mission and she was taken away from her family. She never totally recovered from the fact that she lost her husband and oldest daughter in a single night."

"No matter how much I loved her; there would always be a hole inside her heart."

"Nonetheless, we were happy. I never looked at another woman the same way I looked at Bella. She was just unique to me..."

"Not even when Death took her away..."

"Raising my two kids alone was harder than I thought. Despite having the help of my parents, things just felt empty..."

"I did my best to protect my children, but deep inside I knew they'd always need their mother..."

"And that's the reason I did a long research on forbidden topics. The reason I got in contact with people who had less than pleasant motives in their lives."

"To bring Bella back, I did things that I just can't talk about now. Things that no one in my family will ever know.
Things and secrets I'm taking with me to the grave, and just hope no one ever gets close to them..."

"I'm really not proud of what I did back then, Grunt. I was selfish, and sometimes I wonder why I was never punished for playing with things that should just be left alone."

"But I did everything for her... to have her back. And I'll do them again without question..."
"I know, Broke. I'd do the same... if only for one more chance to be with Lyla. To tell her I'm sorry..."

Helena got an unexpected visit just as she was closing Wanda's Hair Salon.
"What's up, Rosie?"

"I was wondering if you'd do a huge favor to me, Helena. See, the band has a gig tomorrow night, and Nick asked us to look more... glamorous to say the least. So I was wondering if you'd give me a make-over..."
"Me? Why don't you ask Buck? He's the one who usually cuts your hair and..."
"Yeah, but Buck is not as... original as you are, Helena. Besides..."

Helena glanced at Dawson standing at the entrance.
She wasn't naive, and it only took her a couple of seconds to figure out what was going on.

"This a secret from Buck, right? That's the real reason you are not asking him to help you. Rose Mary... how could you?!"
"Oh come on, Helena. There's nothing between Dawson and I! You know how much I love Buck! It's just that... oh well! Will you help me or not?!"

"Fine! Come with me! I just hope you know what you are doing!"

"So... what do you want me to do?"
"Just go nuts, Helena. The crazier the outcome, the better!"
"All right... if that's what you want..."
"Just don't use the razor!"

When Helena was done, Rose Mary was impressed.
"Wow! Now that's what I'm talking about! I look awesome!"
"Yeah, this is one of my best jobs. I just hope Dad won't get a heart attack when he sees you..."
"Nah, he'll be fine..."

Helena also created a new look for the rest of the band.

And the following night, the Drama Llamas were a hit among FM's visitors.

This time, a lot of people came from the neighbor towns to see them.
Rose Mary felt on top of the world!

Helena was part of the crowd.
Ever since Tim and Opal were going out, she didn't feel like going to Night Clubs alone.

Besides, she had her eyes set on Max Tyson.
She spent most of the night working her charms on him.

But that didn't stop her from catching Rose Mary and Dawson inside a karaoke room.

"Nothing between Dawson and you? You call that "nothing"?! Rose Mary.... I'm so disappointed!"

"Oh please! As if you had the right to talk to me like that! Everyone knows you've been with most of the guys at Strangetown!"
"Perhaps... but at least I'm not betraying someone who loves me with my behavior!"
"I'm not betraying Buck! I love him! It's just that... I barely see him lately! And I don't love Dawson... we are just having some fun together!"

Rose Mary didn't let Helena's harsh words affect her.
She knew what she was doing!
This was just fun!
So, she continued with her life as an amateur rock star with her new friends.

Dawson wasn't as sweet and gentle as Buck.
But he was just... so daring! And outgoing!

Yeah, there was nothing wrong in the way they danced together, right?

And in the way they kissed... rough and fast and intense.
Dawson's kisses quenched the thirst she had inside her.
The heat that Buck's arms and lips hadn't been able to extinct in months... for they were absent.

So his father was angry at her all the time.
He often said he was disappointed at her behavior.
Man! No doubt Helena was truly a clone of her father.
Rose Mary didn't care, though. For once she was having fun.
For once she didn't have to be the nice, perfect daughter everyone expected her to be.

They had Tim already.
Let Tim be all excited about the baby!
Let him be the naive boy with the sweet girlfriend, despite still having the hots for Marsha Bruening.

But then one night, something happened...

"Hey Rose Mary! I've just seen your brother and his girlfriend coming in!"
"Oh man! It's Saturday. I totally forgot that Tim usually acts here on Saturdays.
"Yeah, he's coming with some friends too. A couple of green dudes and a blond guy I've never seen..."

A "couple of green dudes"... they must be Calvin and Hobbes.
But as soon as she pictured the blond guy, Rose Mary jumped out of the Jacuzzi.
"Oh my Goodness! BUCK!"
