Previous update: Gen 4.4.

Dear Diary:
You won't believe what happened!
Buck is back! (Hee, that rhymed!)

Of course, he's changed a lot since I last saw him.
He's so tall! He even got in shape!
But that's not important! Of course not!
What matters is that he's here! In my house!

He actually escaped from the Military school, Diary.
Of course, his brother Ripp helped him.
It all started when General Grunt called Ripp.
He's a senior at La Fiesta Tech, remember.
"So I see you are going on a mission to exterminate aliens at Takemizu Village. You must be proud of yourself, General!"

"Now Ripp, please don't start with that again. We are not going to exterminate aliens. If we could do that, we'd already done something with these... Graslaxian creatures at Strangetown. This is a research mission. We are going to study the way the aliens are interacting with the villagers. If we want to derogate Mayor Pleasant-Broke's Alien Law, we need proof of their parasitic way of living in other places.

Anyway, Ripp. Since Tank and I will be out of the country for almost a year, you are going to be in charge of this house. And your brother Buck."

"Oh really?"
"Yes. I trust you've finally matured enough to handle such an important responsibility. It's not that hard, anyway. I only expect you to come here once a month to check the house is still in one piece. And as for your brother... there's not really much to worry. According to General Grenade, he's doing extremely well at school."
"That's not exactly what Buck tells me in his letters..."

"Your brother is sixteen. You know how melodramatic they act at that age. Besides, he's like your mo... never mind. So, can I trust you, Ripp?"
"Of course, General! Both the house and Buck are going to be just fine in your absence."

"Don't you dare do anything stupid, Ripp!"
"Oh don't worry, Tank. I'll keep Buck's best interests in mind. Happy spying! And I really hope you finally get laid over there! You really, really need it."

Ripp kept his promise. He made sure Buck would be fine and happy under his care.
So, the first thing he did was to send a letter to the Military School, requiring his brother's presence at Strangetown.
Ripp's story was actually very simple: With the General and Tank out of the country and Ripp at La Fiesta Tech, Buck had to return to Strangetown to look after the Grunt household. Of course, since he was still a minor, he'd spend the following year with "some relatives".
The school had no other choice but to let Buck out, as Ripp was his legal tutor in that moment.

Although Buck is worried about his father and oldest brother being so far away from Strangetown (Why?!), he's also glad to have this opportunity to spend some time as a normal teen. And I'll make sure this are the best months in his life!

Timmy and Helena are happy to see Buck back.

Although he barely remembered him, Timmy made sure Buck felt welcome in our house.

I talked to Mom. I explained her everything.
How Buck was miserable at the Military School.
How he really didn't want to be a soldier.
How he wanted to spend a year just like... a normal teen.
And how we were the only ones who could offer him a roof while his brother was at College.

Mom has always liked Buck, Diary.
So she and Buck made a deal: He'd be able to live with us as long as he kept good grades at school (the sole mention of going to public school was enough to make Buck smile) and he could pay his meals by working at Mom's new Hair Saloon.

"It's a deal, Mrs. Broke. I won't let you down, I promise!"

Dad is still not sure about this.
He's afraid the General might harm us if he knew that Buck is going to live with us.
He could even accuse Mom and Dad of kidnapping Buck, because he's still a minor.

Mom told him it'd be fine.
"It won't be for long, Puck. Ripp is going to graduate very soon and then Buck will return to his house. And remember how my family took care of you when you arrived to Strangetown as a teen."
"Well, Wanda, that was different. My parents approved my stay in your house... this... I... I really hope we won't regret this in the future..."

Just as she had promised him when he was a kid, Mom is teaching Buck everything she knows about hair styling.

But first, she gave him a much needed makeover.
Thank Goodness!
That Army look reminded me of Tank Grunt... and he always creeped me out when I was little.
He's so... serious and... Unfriendly.

Buck is still impressed by Mom's skills and can't wait to try them out at work.
Mom's glad to have someone to share her loved pastime with.

Dad also talked with Buck.
He was so severe, Diary! He gave Buck a looong list of rules that he must obey if he wants to stay with us.
Like such an early curfew! We must be back at home before sunset.
How old does he think we are? Eight?
But Buck promised to follow all of Dad's rules.

I'm so relieved that my parents are letting Buck stay with us.
I know we are putting our family at risk but...
He's my best friend, and I only want him to be happy.
At least for a little while...

You know something Diary? Now with a boy in the house, I must look nice all the time!
What an awful time to get these nasty pimples!

Buck returned a few minutes ago.
Mom and Dad took him to Downtown to get some new clothes (which he'll pay with his first salary, of course).
He looks so... cute!
(I hope no one reads this ever!)

I'm sorry, Buck. I wish my Dad hadn't given you such a hard time and..."

"It's all right, Rosie. It's nothing compared to the rules I had to follow at the Military School.
Besides... that's a sign that he loves you... just like I think my Dad loves me... in his own special way..."

Well Diary, I have to go! Buck and I are going to play videogames with Timmy.
And Mom, of course!

Love,
Rose Mary
XOXOXO

Deer Diary,

Mai teacher asked me to right a diary to help my righting skills.
He says my spelling is prety bad.
Dumb homework!
But Im doing it because Im bored.
Where is Marsha?

She's usualy with me all the time.
She stalks me! She calls me!
She always drive me krazy!
But I have not saw her in weeks!

I asked Helena the other day.

She's at home with her family, Timmy!
Why do you care so much? Do you miss her?

Me? Miss her? Please!

Helena always have the weirderest ideas!
She's... a little bit krazy.

I call Marsha every afternoon.
But her Mom says she's busy with homework and ballet classes.

I sent her a e-mail, but then I remembered I don't have her adress.

Mom inscribed Helena and me to art classes.
Helena loves them.
I... think they are all right.
At least Im not bored so much those days.

Today I decided Id see whats wrong with Marsha.
She must be planing something! I just know it!

Calvin and Hobbes helped me a little.
"What are you looking for?"- asked Calvin.

"I want to see whats Marsha doing. She must me planing something evil. Is weird that she hasnt botthered me in weeks!"
"Well, Timmy. Maybe its because shes taking care of her baby brother?"
"Pffft! As if!"

"Aha! There she is!"
"Whats she doing?"

"Shes using the telescope! She must be spying here! Just like when she spyed on my phone and hacked my email adress! I knew she was up to something!"

"So let me get this right: You are spying her as she is spying you? I dont know if thats funny or sad!"

Stupid Calvin!

"I dont know whats so wrong with Marsha, Timmy. Shes a nice girl, right?"

"Ewww! Shes a nasty girl! Shell give you cooties! But if you like her so much, you can keep her! Yuck!"

Stupid Hobbes! Why are aliens like my sis and cousins so wierd? Grampa is smarter!

Well diary no more righting. Im bored.

Bye!

Timmy.

Guess what, Diary?

Virtual Games Inc approved Mom's project!
She's going to design her very first videogame!
I'd never seen her so happy!

Grandpa and Helena are the same as always.
They still talk about Graslax, giant robots and spaceships all the time.

Helena's being reading a lot about Graslaxian art and their mastery of Styrofoam sculptures.
But that's nothing extraordinary... considering how odd she's always been.

Dad spends all his free time doing research in the computer.
According to Mom, he finally found out the names of his "real parents" and is trying to find information about them.
But so far no luck...

He usually asks weird questions to Buck.
Most of them about his family. About his aunts and uncles.
Buck is as confused as me. His father is an only child, so of course he doesn't have any aunts or uncles.
I guess Dad is desperate for some answers!

Timmy's being acting like a psycho ever since Marsha's brother, Oscar, was born.
And Buck, well, he's now used to the normal routine in this house.
He's a bit of a nerd, Diary. He just loooooves school.
And he's been reading all of Grandpa's books.

He sends an e-mail to the General daily.
Of course, his letters are full of lies, because Buck has to pretend he's still in the Military School.
He talked to me the other day about his life in that place.
He said it wasn't THAT bad, and that he actually made a few friends.
But he just... didn't want to be a soldier. And he didn't share the Principal's point of view about Aliens.
And that got him into a lot of trouble.

Buck's keeping his promise to Mom.
He brings her his grades every week.

Mom opened her Hair Salon last week.
Thank Goodness! Because I was seriously tired of the smell of perms and hair dyes!

Mom is as popular as always.
Her clients love her skills.
Mom is so close to earn the Gold Diploma from the Stylist Association too!

Buck works with her twice a week.
He's her assistant for now.

I really wonder where he finds the energy to do so many things a day, Diary!
For example, he wakes up at 4 am every single day!
He says he's used to that from the Military School, so he's unable to sleep late now.
Grampa re-built his father's old training station.
Buck seriously loves that thing... he spends an hour just... jumping like a monkey there.

You know Diary? Sometimes... I've... been having these strange ideas.

Like when he comes to the kitchen in the morning to have breakfast with me.
And I... can't just keep my eyes away from his body.

He's so... uh... uh... hot!
Please don't tell anyone, Diary!

And when we play like we used to do as children...

I often wish he'd just stop... fooling around and threw me to the coach and... take me.

But then I realize what I'm thinking about and feel so embarrassed, Diary!
Just like now! I hope no one enters my room now, because my cheeks are so red.
I... I'm trying so hard, so Buck won't suspect about what I'm feeling.
I play rude pranks at him all the time! I mean... if you have the hots for someone, you don't treat him that way, right?
He's just my friend, right?

Although I'll admit sometimes I'm a bit... rude.

Hey, Rosie! That hurts! What's wrong with you?
Yeah... what's wrong with me, Diary?
I'm so confused! I don't want things to change between Buck and I.
But on the other hand, I just want to kiss him!

I... I can't even concentrate enough to play the Bass anymore.
Help me, Diary!

What should I do?

Hey Diary!

Helena can't make fun of me anymore! She's always telling me I'm clumsy and weak!
Ha! But she got PWNED the other day!

It all started when Buck was telling us about his training in the Military School.

Helena's big mouth just won't shut up.
And she said that she could do at the Military School even better than most boys.
So, she asked Buck to show her the working out routine he follows every day.
After all, if Buck could do it now, it must be a piece of cake.

Man! Was she BAD at it!

Buck and I laughed soooo much at her!
That'll teach her to stop bragging so much about her skills!

And guess what, Diary?
She can't also say I'm a "puny, pseudo alien" anymore!

She's always saying that she's Grampa's favorite grandchild because she's a half alien like him!
Well... today I discovered that, despite not being green, I'm as alien as she is!

It all started when Uncle Andrew came home to introduce us to his new wife.
Yep... he got married in secret!
Mom was pissed when she found out!
And you won't believe he married!
Her name is Eighty... and she's Calvin and Hobbes' mom!
And she's that girl from Grampa's memories!
Grampa almost cried when he saw her.

Uncle Andrew told us everything at dinner.
You know those PT dudes, Diary? They threw her out because she impregnated Uncle Andrew.
I really didn't understand well what happened next... but Uncle Andrew has been teaching her how to behave like a human.
And then he just... married her. It was something they didn't really plan. But they are happy.
I know my cousins must be happy!

Mom took out some glasses and toasted for the new couple.
Blah, blah, then they started talking about grown up stuff and I got bored.

Grampa and Eighty talked after dinner.
It's a bit freaky... because they were teens when they first met.
And now Grampa is an old dude. And Eighty is young...
She's even going to have a baby!
Grampa told her everything about Grandma Bella.
She also thanked Eighty for letting her escape from the ship so many years ago.

But Grampa was shocked when Eighty told him that Dad is a half alien.
Grampa had no idea about that!
Not even Dad! Although it makes sense, because he has pointy ears like mine, right?

Dad already suspected that from the pictures he found in the attic.
But he wasn't sure of that, because they were in black and white, so he couldn't tell if his Mom was green or not.
Eighty told him that her name was Chloe Curious.
And she was P.T. Smith's youngest alien daughter!
Eighty doesn't know anything about Dad's father, but she told him the story of how he ended in Veronaville with Grampa Oberon and Grandma Titania.

I'm glad to be back to my green self. Looking like a human is so strange with their lack of an inner third nostril!

"Mission Accomplished, Captain."
"Good job, 14."

"Now... what are we going to do with Chloe Curious' spawn?"

"I... I can't believe she's dead! My sister... I should have been there to protect her..."

"We could try and raise him as one of us."

"Negative, Captain. Remember what happened the last time we had a half-breed among us!"

"I'm also a half-breed! And he's my nephew! I'll take good care of him!"
"Fourteen is right, 101. Remember what happened when we had my spawn, 4763, among us. He was nothing but trouble... right, Eighty Eight?"
"Affirmative, Captain."

"But...?"
"This is not the first time we have an orphan half-breed in our hands, 101. We know what to do with him. We'll send him to Veronaville Orphanage, where one of our P.T.'s work as a secret agent. He'll find a nice home for him."

"All... all right. I love you, Puck. Be a good boy with your new parents... I'll look for you soon... I promise..."

Dad was confused when Eighty finished with her story.
Eighty explained him that Grampa Oberon and Grandma Titania are also orphan half-breeds.
Oberon was born in Pleasantview, but was abandoned when he was just a baby.
Titania was born in Veronaville, and her father died while giving birth.
Even Aunt Bottom is a half-breed who was born in Blue Water Village.
All of them were rescued by Graslaxian spaceships and sent to the Veronaville Orphanage.
And they somehow worked so all these half-breeds ended together as a family.

As for Aunt 101... or Aunt Lola... Eighty said that she left the P.T. project twenty years ago.
She was supposed to go back to Strangetown and look for Dad... but she never did.
No one knows where she is now...

So, Diary, I'm a half-breed too! Because both Mom and Dad are Graslaxian's children!
That's so cool!
Grampa and Dad have talked about the pictures from the attic.
Grampa thinks that Chloe and Buck Strong (whoever he is), lived in this house before us.

Grampa also showed Buck (our Buck), the pictures.
But he has no idea who that man is or why his Dad knows him.
He was so shocked when he learned that he has the same name as our "real" Grampa!
I guess that's something Dad will have to ask to the General one day...

Bye Diary!

(P.S. Aren't you proud of my spelling now, Prof. Roseland?)

Dear Diary:

OMG! OMG! OMG!
You won't believe what happened today!
It all started when Buck and I were talking in the attic, as usual.

So... how was your first day as a hair stylist?

I guess it went well, Rosie.
But I was so nervous!
At first, none of our clients got close to my chair.
Not that I'd blame them...
But then, someone entered the salon!

It was my brother, Ripp!
It was so funny, Rosie, because I'm sure he hadn't had a haircut since he was 12... just to piss Dad off.

He wasn't sure if this was a good idea or not.
I know he was doing this to motivate me.
I'd written him last week telling him I'd start working as a hair stylist today.

"Uh... don't worry, Ripp. I'll be extra careful! Besides, Mrs. Broke taught me well!"
"As long as I don't end looking like Tank, it'll be fine! Otherwise I'll kill you!"

"Of course not! Now... don't move..."

My hands were shaking, Rosie.
But I did it just fine! Ripp loved the result. Thank goodness!

Of course that was just beginners' luck, for I failed the rest of the day.
I'm surprised your Mom didn't fire me!
She says I'll improve with practice...

Ripp thinks the same.
We talked for a while after we closed the Salon.
He's working on his degree paper.
He says that as soon as he graduates, he'll move back to our house with me.

That's wonderful, Buck!

Yeah, it'll be nice to live again with Ripp.
Even if it won't last for too long...

"Oh no! Don't you start talking about that, Buck!
You know I hate that topic!"

I always get scared when Buck mentions his father's return. I... I don't want to think what'll happen when he comes back and discovers that Buck is not at the Military School.
I'm sure he'll send Buck to the other side of the world! And I don't want to lose him again!

"I'm sorry, Rosie. But you know we must be realistic. This... this won't last forever..."
"But... what will happen when the General returns?"
"I... don't know..."
"What if I don't see you again?"

"Of course we'll see each other again! I'll be seventeen in just a few weeks! And before you know it, I'll be of legal age! Dad won't be able to keep us apart! I promise! I..."

And something incredible happened in that moment, Diary.
Buck placed his hand on my cheek... and... it just happened.

I never expected to have my first kiss in the attic.
And I just... can't explain how it felt with words. It was better than the movies!
Better than the romantic novels I hide under my bed!

I love him, Diary. Now I know it’s more than a simple crush.
I've fallen in love with my best friend.

And the best part, Diary?
He loves me too!

And there's nothing more I could ask for…
