The Broke Legacy: Gen 3.6 (Part 2)
Oct. 6th, 2007 05:42 pm

Talk about a busy year, Grandpa!
I never expect my sophomore year to be so full of events and excitement!
As you can see, Andrew is just right!
Don't tell him (because he'll brag until the end of time if he knows this) but he had a lot of admirers around campus since I gave him a make-over.

Yeah, but it was his attitude what prevented him from scoring with any girl.

He was still mad at Arcadia, and constantly followed her around the dorm to kick her ass.
Talk about a grudge!

He was also irritable and often argued with everyone.
He didn't even care if they were his teachers or not.

Oh, and silly Saturn still didn't understood that Andrew was a violent player.
They almost fought one day, while they were playing punch you-punch me.

"What the hell, man? That hurts!"
"Come on! Don't be a freaking wimp, Saturn! Hit me with your best punch!"

Good thing that Puck was also there to break the argument.
The boys have gotten even closer this year. They often go out together to do "Man stuff" and leave me at the dorm.
Those meanies!
Puck in general has been a good influence to Andrew. HE might be an angry bastard, but at least Andrew doesn't spend as much time alone in his room. Nope, Puck's influence has been so strong that Andrew now wants to be a popular guy and have a lot of friends (yeah, I have no idea how he's gonna do it). He even wants to be lawyer, like Puck, and therefore changed his major to Psychology.
By the way, I also asked Puck why he chose Drama as his major, if he wants to be a defense attorney. You won't believe what he told me, Grandpa! He says that a good lawyer has to be also a good actor, especially while objecting at court.
Puck's an odd ball!

Puck might be a friendly guy, but I just figured out the one person in campus he can't stand.
Yup, that stupid Cow Mascot, who's always making fun of his pointy ears. What a jerk!

Anyway, Andrew's new goal of having as many friends as possible got him to work... on his computer.
Yeah, he said that most people on campus were dolts, so he looked for new friends on the net.
He eventually met someone named autumnleaves45 and chatted with her all the time.

Soon enough, he started talking in the phone with her too.
Andrew Broke, talking on the phone with a girl? Unbelievable!

What about Arcadia? Well, Saturn, who's also an idiot, loved her new look.
So he started flirting with her.
I'd almost think that is betrayal on his part... but it's Saturn.

Yeah, Arcadia is now his fifth girlfriend. And he also says she's quite efficient at doing his term papers.
He's got no morals...

Me? Well, unlike some people, I like doing my research papers on my own.

And I'm also the one responsible in cheering up the bunch of emos I have for room mates.

Especially Puck, who ever since his last visit to Veronaville, has been feeling quite blue.
He must miss Hermia.

Remember Sterling? He became one of my best friends, Grandpa.
He often called me and we spent hours on the phone.
He also asked me out frequently but... I wasn't sure of that yet.
Not that I was being faithful to Abhjeet (who already had a new girlfriend) or anything, our relationship was a stupid teen romance, if you want to call it that way.

One day, Andrew proposed we went to The Wasteland.
Does that name ring a bell?
That's right! That's where Dad found Mom back when he was at College.

Saturn spent the whole night at the bubble blower.

While I told Puck my parent's love story.
"Isn't it romantic, Puck? My parents got together, against all odds and distance. And their reunion was right here! This is their place! I think all the couples have a special place emblazed with their story"

"Well... that's a bit cheesy, Wanda, but sure! I guess all couples have their favorite place. Mine and Hermias' would be my house... uh..."

Talk about being un-romantic!
So I left Puck alone and wandered around the place.
I eventually bumped into Sterling!
I was so glad to see him!

We spent the rest of the night together!
And we had a lot of fun!

The days went by...
Remember how bad Puck was at sports?
Well, he needed to get in shape for a nude scene he would perform at a play.
He haaaated working out with a passion, but I often told him that Hermia would appreciate it in the end.

Puck and Saturn often did their homework together.
Well... I think it was more Puck doing the work and Saturn being the moral support, if you know what I mean.

Finally, Andrew and autumnleaves45 decided to meet in person at our dorm.
Andrew was so nervous!

His friend, Autumn, was a bit older than him.

Surprisingly enough, they got along as well as they did online.

Autumn also loved the Karaoke Machine!

It was a match made in heaven!

And Andrew, finally scored with a girl.

Of course, as soon as she found out Autumn was Andrew's girlfriend, Arcadia McBitch had to go and make fun of her.

And let me tell you Grandpa, that things got quite ugly!

This time, Andrew taught her a lesson.
"Take THAT Bitch!"

Despite that little trouble, Autumn and Andrew's relationship was perfect.
They often went out on dates and Andrew didn't scowl or argue with anyone during them.

Not even when the waitress threw the salad over his head on accident!

That's when I started to feel a little lonely.
Everyone in the dorm had friends and girlfriends.
Me... I often spend the nights alone, playing videogames.
I had become Andrew!
"You are alone because you want it, Wanda. What about Sterling? I know you've been waiting for Puck for almost five years but that's not going to happen! It's time to let that go!"

So I listened to Saturn's advice and called Sterling.
He was thrilled to see me!

He took me out to The Hub.
That's right, the very same place Puck and I went to when we were teens.
It was a bit awkward at first...
We were even in the same table!

But I soon forgot about him.
I had a great time with Sterling.
He was handsome, funny and a gentleman.
He was perfect!

And after our date, he became a frequent visitor at our dorm.

Most of my room mates got used to the sight of us kissing around the building.
No, Grandpa, we didn't do that kind of stuff yet. It was all platonic.
Anyway...
There was someone who didn't approve our relationship.

Yeah, despite how friendly he is, Puck despised Sterling.
What was his problem?

Months went by, and Andrew was in his final weeks at College.
So, he decided to make a move towards his future.

And as you know, Grandpa, he asked Autumn to marry him.

She accepted.

Puck had become a bit taciturn during the last few weeks.
He no longer spent as much time on the computer or talking with Hermia on the phone.
And he began to eat alone.

He also wandered around the building with such a sad face.

I tried to talk to him.
"What's wrong, Puck? You haven't been yourself, lately. Is there something I can do to help you?"

-"It's none of your business, Wanda! You... you just stay away and be with your precious Sterling!"

- "What the hell are you talking about? We are best friends! But fine! If you want to be an asshole then so be it!"

Puck and I haven't talk to each other since our fight.
I'm sad, Grandpa. I wish I knew what's going on with him.
Andrew eventually was able to comfort him. I have no idea what they talked about, he won't tell me either.

But he also began to have problems with Sterling.
Darn it! Why can't he just get along with my boyfriends for once in his lifetime? He also hated Abhjeet!

-"That brings us to today, Andrew's graduation."

- "And that's what I've done this year, Grandpa. What about you?"

- "Well, Wanda, things are home have been quiet lately.."

You father was finally able to leave the criminal gang on the promise he would aid them now and then and of course, he wouldn't let the police know about their activities.
He's been a lot happier since then, because deep inside, he hated that job. He's too nice for that.
He found a job at a Biochemical company and currently works as a Theorist there.
He's been mixing his Graslaxian studies with his medical knowledge, and he's researching new medicines and vitamins.

He's now using the backyard room as a real laboratory.

And I'm glad to say that your father has finally found his vocation.
He's now truly happy.

Natalia turned four the other day.

She couldn't make it to Andrew's party of course, but she's currently staying with your Aunt Molly.
Wait until you see her!

Your Uncles and Aunt are also happy.
And that makes me happy too.
Although now that I think about it, there's not much left for me to do.
I finally reached all my dreams and started a great family.
I know all of you are going to do just fine in the future.
To think that it's been almost 60 years since those days in which I had to dance in the street for money.
I think I'm ready to move on...

- "Oh don't say that Grandpa! You are still like new! Let's show these people how we Brokes are the masters at Smutling!"

Andrew's graduation party was so fun!
We danced for hours!

But then, the music became slower, and most of us returned to our seats.
It was couple time.

"Hey, Wanda, is that lad over there your friend Puck?"
- "Yes, he is..."
- "Why don't you take this chance to patch things up with him. I know from experience, that it hurts to have an open wound between good friends..."
- "You mean Lucy?"
- "Go, my sweetheart. Don't let an old man like me stop you from having fun. Go, ask him to dance! It worked wonders with me!"

I followed Grandpa's advice and asked Puck to dance.
To my surprise, and despite the many weeks we had been avoiding each other, he accepted.

"Puck I..."
- "I'm so sorry, Wanda..."
- "What?"
- "I've been acting like an idiot. I was just..."
- "Jealous?"
- "What? No... I mean... I just wanted to protect you..."
- "Sterling's a good man."
- "I know... but you are like my sister, Wanda. No man will ever be good for you in my eyes..."

- "You are forgiven, Puck. Let's not let this kind of stupid things to broke us apart ever again, all right?"
- "Of course!"
- "So... aren't you excited?"
- "Of what?"
- "Of summer vacations, of course! You're gonna visit Hermia at Academie Le Tour!"
- "Oh... yeah. I've missed her so much..."
- "I'm gonna miss you, Puck. But we'll see each other soon!"
- "And we'll have the best Junior year in history, you'll see..."
Thank you Grandpa...

Andrew graduated with honors.
He was the top student of his class and already had a great offer at an firm.
But he also wanted to start his own firm with Puck.

Andrew, Saturn and I left for Strangetown that night.
I spent two lovely months with my sisters and parents.
And Grandpa too!

At the start of our Junior year, things between Puck and I were back to normal.
- "So, did you have a nice time at Strangetown, Wanda?"
- "Of course! Mom and Dad send you best wishes, Puck."

- "Say, that haircut really suits you, Puck."
- "Errr... thanks..."
- "But I'm confused: Weren't you letting your hair grow long to surprise Hermia?"

- "Yeah but... I realized that's a stupid idea. Besides, this is more my style and..."
- "Something's wrong, Puck?"

- "Can we talk about this some other time? I'm not in the mood and..."

- "All right! All right! I won't force you! Geez! Because... Hey! Do you hear that?"
- "What?"
- "Someone's crying..."

- "SATURN!"

Puck and I had never seen Saturn so distressed.
I was seriously worried.

-"What's wrong, Saturn? Who were you talking to?"
- "It was Andrew, Wanda, and..."
- "Saturn?"
- "It's Grandpa..."

Beau Broke, my Grandfather, died peacefully in his house one quiet summer morning, just like the one when he arrived to Strangetown.
He was 85 years old.
I'm pretty sure that he was sad to leave and not watch Tamara and Natalia grow up.

But I also believe that deep inside he was glad to leave this world.
Just as he had said at Andrew's party, he was sure that we Brokes would continue the family line for many generations.
He had achieved his dream of a great, strong, family, and was ready to reunite with his parents, brother and two wives.

Who knows? Perhaps they'd have a great party in the Great Beyond.

We buried Grandpa in our backyard.
We built a special place for his tomb, with the view of the cliffs he always liked behind it.

His funeral was a bitter-sweet time.
We were all pretty sad to say good-bye to him, but at the same, we were sure he was now in a better place.

Uncle David, his brother, was there too.
He told us how much Grandpa worked to send him to the University.
He'd always be thankful for that.

Dad was the one in charge of the farewell speech.
If there's something that can be said about Beau Broke, is that he had an extraordinary life

He was born in a household recently shaken by tragedy, but that also taught him the importance of family.

He didn't have much as a boy, but he never minded.
He had the love of his mother and brothers. That was enough to bring a smile to his face.

But as he grew older, he understood that in order to form a family as loving as the one he had, he needed to work and study.
Unfortunately, a town like Pleasantview was the ideal place for someone like my father.

He left his family and friends, and looked for better opportunities in several other cities.

And he finally found his second chance in our dear Strangetown.

Strangetown proved to be a town just like its namesake, but my Father never judged his inhabitants.
He never fell prey to the same mistakes the people of Pleasantview made.
And that's how my race, the Graslaxians, chose him as my father.

Dad often told me he was terrified at that time.
But nonetheless, he fullfilled his promise to take care of his family, despite being a lot different than how he imagined.

He eventually formed a complete family by marrying Lilith Pleasant, who I'll always consider my mother.

The following years, our family grew larger and stronger.
Dad always taught us the importance of family, of having the best education as possible and of giving everyone a second chance before judging their differences.

As Minister of Education, he followed the same ideals.
He opened several scholarship and funding programs, which are currently helping a lot of young people today.

He may not be physically among us anymore, but his teachings are legacy will always be with us.

And as long as we remember them, his spirit will remain in this town.

Once the service was over, I couldn't hold back my tears.

-"Come here, sweetie"-said Dad as he hugged me tightly.
And right then, as I noticed the great love my father felt for me, and the one I'll also feel for my children, I understood what Dad had said earlier.

Good-bye Grandpa.
Thanks for everything!

Notes:
- Awww! I already miss my founder! :( It was awesome to play with Beau for such a long time but hey! The legacy's still going on, and I'm sure there'll be good Sims to play with in the following generations.
- Regarding Cosmo's weird job changes: That was me trying to fulfill as many LTW as possible. I'm proud to say that Cosmo is THE overachiever Sim in my game. Not only did he have excellent grades, reached the top of his career as a teen and graduated with 4.0 GPA (earning a lot of Asp Points in the process), he also completed four LTW: The top of the medicine, education, crime and science careers. He also has max skills! (and I was waiting for that LTW to roll, but he went back to the medicine one, so I stopped there). Cosmo has so many Asp points that I guess I'm gonna feed him with elixir so he lives up to Gen 6! XD.
- The stupid Crime story was my lame attempt as explaining why someone with 10 nice points would like to become the Criminal Master Mind. Oh Cosmo!
- The majors the kids chose at college were on free will. Yeah, stupid Wanda and Puck choosing majors that won't help with their LTW. The only smart Sim on that dorm is Saturn.
- I decided to change Andrew's aspiration when I got that choice at College. He rolled Popularity with the LTW of reaching the top of the Law career, just like his best bud Puck. Awwwww! He's got the outgoing points... but he's a grouchy Sim, so he's always arguing with people. I guess Arcadia Pai, bitch extraordinaire, brought out the worst in him.
- The "Japanese exchange students" are my failed attempts at recreating the Chosen Children (from Digimon) as Young Adults. The good versions (as kids and teens) are at my Pleasantview. I'm gonna put them for download soon.
- By the way, if you'd like to download any of the Brokes, here is the link where you can find them (I have up to Gen 3).
- I also posted a small update of the Gen 1 Spares (Dustin and David Broke) in my journal.
- Oh yeah! You may wonder how is ACR working now that the kids are at College. Well...

- This is what they did as soon as I loaded the dorm lot for the first time! See? I hadn't even give Puck a makeover yet! Of course, they've been woohooing like bunnies all the way through College. Every time I couldn't find either Puck or Wanda, be sure they were woohooing in Wanda's bed (always her bed) or the hot tub. Good thing I don't have Inteen, or Wanda would had gotten pregnant through college.
- Saturn loves ACR, by the way. XD
So yeah, this is everything I have to say for now. Will Wanda finally score with Puck (storywise) or will she spend the rest of her days with the hot downtownie who appears in every legacy? Will Andrew marry Autumn? Will Halley and Isabel join the kids at College? And when will freakin' gen 4 arrive? (Actually, Gen 4 was born yesterday in my game :D).
See you next time!
