Random Silly Pictures
Jun. 24th, 2008 10:07 pmI might not show it, but I'm a nervous mess right now. In just... 36 hours I'll have the BIG interview at the US Embassy, the final step I must take in order to win a scholarship to study my master's degree in the United States. I'm trying hard to stay calm, but it's at night when I get really nervous.
In just three days I'll start my summer vacations. For one month and a half I'll be "free" to do whatever I want with my time. Notice I put the "free" in quotations because I'll actually be a bit busy setting up my office, but at least I'll have time to go back to the many, many books I have to read (for pleasure, and I'm not counting Eclipse... I must finish "digesting" Bella's idiocy at New Moon before tackling yet another volume depicting her "adventures").
Anyway...
I didn't have work these last two days (the school closed for "official matters"), so I had time to rescue my legacy lot from yet another bug issue. I was lucky, so I didn't have to re-start the neighborhood (Thank goodness!), but I still lost my lovely house. So, I downloaded a new lot and spent last night (I'm dealing with insomnia because of my nerves) decorating it. It came out awesome (to me, at least), but I'm afraid I'll make my graphics card suffer if I play with it as it is, so I packed it (for posterity, or for when I get a better computer... perhaps this summer :P) and took out a lot of decorations. I don't have lag, but the graphics are still a bit blurry, so I took a few pics and edited them with Photoshop to see how they'd come out.
So, could you please tell me if they are good enough for a story update? I really like my lot, but I'm aware that it's huge size (5 x 5) is too much for my graphics card (at least if I want to keep the high settings).
BTW, these pics also feature yet another change in default skintones. I downloaded the new Phasmaxian Skintones (inclusing zombie, vampire and alien defaults, so yeah, I'll now have "minty green" aliens!) and they look great with the Lyran eyes. The best part is that they don't have the odd nipple issue + too girly facial features of the Lyran skins (both are reasons why I ended up ditching them). I have cartoony sims again! :D

Here's Tim showing his delicate table manners on his new kitchen.
Buuuuuurp!
That's classy, dude.
Yup, he's tired of the bald look (the wigs he wears in his film are very itchy :D), so he's growing out his hair again ;P.

Wanda and Puck are still as sickly sweet as they have been since their college years.
This was done on free will <3

Here's little Edward contemplating the horrible (for my computer at least) thunderstorm that began just as he transitioned into a child.
DUN DUN DUUUUUN!
And just to prove my point, Ed was really happy as he watched the storm through his window. Crazy, evil kid.
(He wears glasses, but you can't seem them here because he was wearing his PJs)

Here's Mr. Blurry, aka Cody.
For some reason, his pictures always come up blurry, especially since he became a teen.
Perhaps it's the contacts he wears? Or maybe it's because he's barely sober these days?
This is the best pictures I had, so I eventually changed his outfit into a Maxis one to reduce the blurry-ness.

Because I've decided that all my sims will look "cartoony" from now on, I got rid of all my custom skins, including the Pooklet ones.
Of course, I forgot that both Tommy and Chip were born with them, so they reverted to S2 when I loaded my game.
So, using Christianlov's skintone changer (which I updated with the new skins), I gave Tommy the freckled Lyran skin and Chip the "ivory" (aka very pale) Lyran skin. I just need to figure out how to change their DNA so they'll inherit those skins to their children.
To make it "official", Tommy is the Generation Five Heir. I closed the poll yesterday morning and he beated Chip by seven votes. It was a close race! O_o. And I'm also amazed that Edward got 30 votes, because he's barely developed so far. BTW, don't think that the "pros" and "cons" I put in the poll are real clues of what's going on with the story. Those were only possibilities, and after reading your comments I got a few ideas for Tommy's future :D.
Chip, Edward, Lyla and Cody will be developed as well. I'll try to keep their stories close to the main plot (like I did with the last Gen), so the Spares update won't be gigantic.

Finally, here's Rose Mary, aka Miss "I-don't-care-that-my-hunger-is-on-the-red-gotta-play-videogames-NOW!".
And yup, she's very pregnant in that picture.
Finally, I wanted to post a very funny picture I had in my "random" folder. I've decided I'll wait until I reach Gen 6 before I post my notes and "behind the scenes" pictures, but this one is too good to wait that long.

You might remember that in the last update there was a short "flashback" to the Grunt's "tender years". I was lazy, so instead of creating clones of the Grunts in another neighborhood, I decided to just age them back with the help of the testing cheats (the Insiminator was not updated yet).
Of course, that brought a lot of silly issues, like kid!Ripp and toddler!Buck wearing wedding rings and the Social Worker showing up to take Tank away (thank Goodness I didn't save that mess!). But nothing can compare to the laugh I had when I watched the make-over the General Buzz had when I aged him back into an adult:

Gotta love these silly bursts of Sim randomcy!
I hope I'll have the next update ready this weekend!
- See you next time!
