Bon Voyage

This week was a long one, for it was mostly an emotional roller-coaster to me.

I don't know... I'm quite stressed at the moment due to work and personal issues (regarding the health of a very close relative). I'm working hard to suppress my depressive tendencies, but it's being harder than other times. I often feel like crying with no apparent reason and I hate it. I guess I'll get over this sooner or later. I've always managed to do so one way or another, and I've learned there's no point in moping around instead of doing at least something to make things better. Therefore, I've spent the last two days creating an inventory of my text books and fixing up my résumé. I'm opening my office in two months, so there's a lot to do.

Sure, I've also spent a couple hours playing around with my sims. As I said a few days ago, I finally installed Bon Voyage. In the process I lost my Strangetown for the SECOND time, dammit! But it wasn't BV's fault, though. I was so distracted backing up all my files that I copied a clean template of Strangetown over my "custom" Strangetown (over the back up to boot!) and it replaced all its files and screwed up the names of my sims and personalities beyond repair.

So, I was forced to start over for the second time in less than a month. But hey! I'm already an expert in this stuff and this time I was careful and also re-installed the Specter and Beaker families. I also added Cosmo and Beau's graves, Tank, Buzz and, of course, Helena's odd family, so I can say that my neighborhood is finally complete. With BV, I was also able to download a lot of neat community lots from MTS2, and created a new downtown near the sea to make use of the new features of this EP.

The only downsides of my stupid mistake were that I lost both Poof Broke and my "lovely" house for good! Fortunately, I've just downloaded Orike's Country Suburban lot and so far I've been able to play with my Brokes in there without trouble. It's a very nice lot for large families, especially one with double heirs like mine. Although I guess I'll have to download the bunk beds pretty soon.

Anyway, it is good that I had to start over with my Brokes (and their pics) yet again, because I wasn't really happy with the way I was setting up the first scenes for update 5.1. Due to all the aging issues I dealt with in the past, I re-created Wanda and Puck as elders, so there's gonna be a time-skip of at least a year to explain the sudden aging. The way I had originally written it was a bit too... abrupt for my taste.

So, I decided to instead follow Tim and Marsha's first months of marriage, just after they ran away from Strangetown. And because I also wanted to try out some of Bon Voyage's new features, I decided they'd spend those months in Twikki Island.

I got a bit photo-crazy as usual, so I'm afraid I ended up with more pictures than I'd need for something that's just gonna work as the "prologue" of the update. So, I decided to post some of them here, at least the ones that amused me the most ^^.

There are mild spoilers for the Broke Legacy ahead (plus one that's actually a well-known fact about for Strangetown), so you've been warned ^^.

The good news: Bon Voyage is working just fine in my computer. I did install the patches for FFS, BV and for some odd reason, the Kitchen and Bath stuff pack also forced me to re-install the Season's patch for the 334456th time. I guess my computer has some sort of fetish with that patch O_o. I also added all the critical fixes from MATY and TwoJeffs.
The game is not lagging, and after fixing a small graphical issue with the neighborhood (that I had since I installed Seasons, but was never bothered by it), I was able to place beach lots too. I often play without shadows and reflections (unless there's a mirror on the scene), so I haven't experienced anything odd graphic wise. The sea works and looks quite pretty.

The only lag I experienced was in the hotel, once it was filled with tourists and NPC's. But that's an issue I often have in the college dorms, though.

I don't think I'm gonna send my sims (or at least the Brokes) often on vacation, but I'll sure make use of the new objects like the massage table, the beautiful piano and the tea table.

Here's Marsha doing her favorite thing at the beach. She spent most of her "Honeymoon" sunbathing, but she didn't get a tan.

These new versions of Tim and Marsha have THREE bolts of attraction. I don't know why, because I'm using the same aspirations and turn ons they had in the past.
So, with ACR, you can bet those two spend the whole time kissing and woo hooing. Marsha got pregnant on their first night at Twikki Island, of course, and I can't wait to see how is ACR gonna handle the number of babies in this generation.

Of course, Tim rolled the want to dig for treasure and comb for shells. Those fortune sims...
He had no luck with the shells though... but I just love his "Oh well! I suck! No biggie!" face.

I tried most of the stuff I could find the three days they were on Twikki Island.
They went to the boardwalk, to the ruins (as seen in this picture) and of course, to the secret lot, but I won't tell more because that's a spoiler for the story.
I wasn't able to teach them to hula dance or the "Hang lose" salute, though.
They only went to one tour, and they got the secret map as a reward.
Lame! I wanted something funny to happen to them!

Oh well, at least Tim learned to "Fire Dance", so he now has a new way to entertain people besides Free Styling ^^.
Plus, it works well with his new LTW, to reach the top of the Entertainer Career.
Marsha now wants to send three kids to College (WHYYYY!!!). Buck wants to reach golden anniversary (errr...) and I'll have to make something up to explain Rose Mary's sudden desire to become a Visionary (top of the Art career). Helena wants to woohoo 20 different sims now... sorry girl, but you'll have to stick with Calvin and Ripp for now.

Now, I also had to figure out an explanation for Tim and Marsha's long absence. Sure, they ran away from Marsha's wedding, but they had no ACTUAL reason to stay away from Strangetown for so long. Story-wise, Tim and Marsha got a letter from Hobbes, as you might remember.
But when I sent them to the "Pirate beach" on their final day at Twikki Island, I finally figured out a story for them.

They spent a year on Twikki Island, because Tim was filming a pirate's movie :P.
He's currently a "Leading Man", so it makes sense.
Once he reaches the top of the ShowBiz career, he'll start working on the Entertainer one for his LTW.

Of course, Tim is a comedian at heart, so don't think this is your average "Epic" Pirate movie.
Especially not with those silly expressions!

Right now, Tim and Marsha are back at Strangetown and I've just moved them to the new Broke lot.
Marsha's about to pop out "Poof" any moment now, so I’m eager to know if it’s going to be a boy or a girl this time.
Although... the size of her belly and the fact that I paid no attention and gave her the "super fertility" aspiration reward makes me wonder if she's actually gonna have twins! (or triplets... because that's the way I roll with this game).
But I guess that question will be answered once I load my game tonight.

To finish this mini-update, here are a few pictures I took while I was re-creating Olive Specter's "unique" garden.
Yeah, the empty template of course lacks the graves, and you can't have the Specter lot without them, right?

So, I shoot a small "past scene" while I was "killing" Olive's victims.

This murder in particular is gonna play a huge role in the following generation.

And that’s all for now.

Thanks for reading! :)
