My desktop died three days ago. It came out of nowhere and I had no chance to make a backup of my latest pictures and downloads. My sister says that it was jealous of my laptop, contributing to my ongoing conspiracy theory that computers are temperamental beings (and that they are programmed to blow up when they reach five years of use).

As you can imagine, I was extremely angry, because I hadn't moved those files to my laptop yet. And with my desktop "death", I also lost my installed copy of Photoshop 7.0. Newer versions of Photoshop are too complicated and expensive for my tastes and I couldn't figure out how to use the GIMP, so I turned my poor room upside-down in hopes of finding my Photoshop CD and a few CDs with work backups I REALLY needed (that was what had me worried the most).

In the end, I DID find my Adobe CD and my work files. But the best part is that I also found a backup of my Broke neighborhood from precisely the point I left them last update! So, since I already took out that nasty file from TSR, I was able to load my Broke lot again! YAY! I don't have to figure out a new way to either re-create their lot or explain a sudden move for continuity's sake!

I've been playing my Brokes for a couple days (I've missed them, and it's been almost two months since my last real update!) and I love my laptop's "pseudo-graphics card". The game doesn't lag and the graphics looks great (at least to me). Despite playing in the huge 5x3 lot with 11 sims, I can see every single detail of their faces and outfits, even some I've never noticed before.

This picture came out directly from  the in-game camera, so I haven't sharpened it, yet, I can see the stars clearly.

I was a bit disappointed when my paintings and wedding portraits were so blurry in game. But now I can see them with no problems.

Finally, here's a look at my former Mr. Blurry. For some reason, it was hard to see Cody's face without  over-sharpening the picture with Photoshop. But now I can see even the buttons of his sweater :)

So yup, these are just a couple teasers from my next update. I don't know exactly when I'm gonna have it ready because I'm still playing and taking the picture, while adjusting to a couple of unexpected plot-twists the sims themselves threw at me. I really like when they do that, it makes things a lot more entertaining for me (and help me out when I'm stuck).

The Gen 5.5 update will come up before this week is over, though. I'm planning on posting the first update of Gen 6 before the summer is over. Let's see if I manage to do so.
