This is a early Halloween photshoot with the Gen 4 kids (plus two special "guests"). This is mostly an experiment, because I used a screen-capture program to take these pictures. It is a bit annoying to crop the pics and several were ruined because they had the little "action icons" on the upper-left corner (and I didn't notice). I really can't tell if the quality of these pics is better than the ones I take with the in-game camera, because I'm a n00b at noticing graphic details and all that jazz. I don't know... perhaps I'll use this technique with special entries like this one :S. I still can't figure out how to add borders to a picture, despite the lovely tutorial [insanejournal.com profile] okey_cokey showed me. I FAIL AT PHOTOSHOP! :)

Well, after that boring rambling, here are the pics. You might wonder about the kid's costumes... well... you'll see pretty soon! :)

We begin this entry with the lovely Rose Mary Broke. Despite lacking the one quality needed to fit the costume theme for this photoshoot, I didn't want to leave her aside. So here's Rosie as "La Catrina".

From Wikipedia:
La Calavera de la Catrina is a 1913 zinc etching by Mexican printmaker José Guadalupe Posada. The image has since become a staple of Mexican imagery, and is often incorporated into artistic manifestations of the Day of the Dead, such as altars and calavera costumes. It was part of his series of calaveras, which were humorous images of contemporary figures depicted as skeletons, often accompanied by a poem. The word "catrina" is the feminine form of the word "catrín", which means "dandy". The figure, depicted in an ornate hat fashionable at the time, is intended to show that the rich and fashionable, despite their pretensions to importance, are just as susceptible to death as anyone else.

While some mexican children might celebrate Halloween, the real party of this season is the Day of the Dead, on November 2nd.

From Wikipedia:
Though the subject matter may be considered morbid from the perspective of some other cultures, celebrants typically approach the Day of the Dead joyfully, and though it occurs roughly at the same time as Halloween, the traditional mood is much brighter with emphasis on celebrating and honoring the lives of the deceased, and celebrating the continuation of life; the belief is not that death is the end, but rather the beginning of a new stage in life.

Ofrendas are also put in homes, usually with foods such as candied pumpkin, pan de muerto ("bread of the dead") or sugar skulls and beverages such as atole. The ofrendas are left out in the homes as a welcoming gesture for the deceased. Some people believe the spirits of the dead eat the "spiritual essence" of the ofrenda food, so even though the celebrators eat the food after the festivity, they believe it lacks nutritional value. The pillows and blankets are left out so that the deceased can rest after their long journey.

The Day of the Dead is one of my favorite traditions. And when I found the lovely "papel picado" at MTS2, I wanted to make something related to this day for the photoshoot ^^.
Moving on...

Here's Helena dressed as... Helena, from "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is wing'd Cupid painted blind.

As Puck's daughter, the Veronaville look really suits her! :)

You might now guess the main theme for this photoshooting.
Yep, the Gen 4 kids are dressed as their cheesy name counter-parts!
So for the next three sims, here comes a song!

Timmy is an average kid that no one understands.

Mom and Dad and Vicky always giving him commands

"BED TWERP!"

The doom and gloom up in his room
is broken instantly

by his magic little fish
who grant his every wish

'cause in reality, they are

his Odd Parents, Fairly Odd Parents!

"Wands and wings!"

"Floaty, crowny things!"

Oddparents, Fairly Oddparents!
Really mod, pea pod, buff bod, hot rod!

"Obtuse, rubber goose, green moose, guava juice, giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake!"

Oddparents, Fairly Oddparents!
It flips your lid when you are a kid with Fairly Oddparents!
(Yeah, right!)

Finally, Andrew's alien twins as the greatest comic strip characters from all time!
(Complete with random quotes from the strip because really, anything I could say about them won't make them justice!)

“I've got plenty of common sense.... I just choose to ignore it.”

"I'm learning real skills that I can apply throughout the rest of my life ... Procrastinating and rationalizing."

"Why isn't my life like a situation comedy? Why don't I have a bunch of friends with nothing better to do but drop by and instigate wacky adventures? Why aren't my conversations peppered with spontaneous witticisms? Why don't my friends demonstrate heartfelt concern for my well being when I have problems? ...I gotta get my life some writers."

"A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day."

"As a math atheist, I should be excused from this. "

“Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.”

"I think we dream so we don't have to be apart so long. If we're in each others dreams, we can play together all night!"

"Calvin: I'm a genius, but I'm a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes: What's misunderstood about you?
Calvin: Nobody thinks I'm a genius. "

Hobbes : "What do you think is the secret to happiness? Is it money, power or fame?"
Calvin : "I'd choose money. If you have enough money, you can buy fame and power. That way you'r have it all and be really happy. Happiness is being famous for your financial ability to indulge in every kind of excess."
Hobbes : "I suppose thats *one* way to define it."
Calvin : "The part I think I'd like best is crushing people who get in my way."

“Childhood is short, maturity is forever.”

"It's a magical world out there, Hobbes, Ol' Buddy... let's go exploring!"

THE END!
Happy Halloween, everyone!
