Finally, I also released a recolor/retexture of Hysterical Paroxysm's "Gaius Hair" (edited by Navetsea), requested by [livejournal.com profile] hjsnapepm. You can find them at Garden of Shadows:

These are pretty. And thank you again for the Gaius hair. I can't wait to play tomorrow.

You certainly spoil us!!! I really can't thank you enough for all your amazing work. :)

Thank you, thank you! I've decided to go all (or at least close to all) Maxis-match with my hair and you've covered TONS of my favorites, saving me most of the trouble of trying to do this stuff myself. (Except for the part where Neena's red is staggeringly bright for my taste, but I not only know how to fix that, I know how to fix it with SimPE and Photoshop so I can avoid having to use Body Shop and then re-family the hair.)

[identity profile] simgaroop.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)

I've been having some issues with the reds recently.

For some reason, the colors show up much brighter in Bodyshop... and then blindingly bright in the game! I like bright hair, but that's ridiculous :).

I had to re-do the red for the very last hair twice for this reason. I wish Bodyshop lighting was more accurate, because this is annoying!

Oh, how do you fix the hairs without Bodyshop? Do you export, edit and then re-import the textures with SimPe? I've thought about trying that to fix some hairs, but I didn't think that actually worked :).

That's exactly it -- extract to PNG with SimPE, edit, and then Build DXT to put the edited textures back in. It is very useful, I have downloaded a huge pile of Maxis-match retextures from Piggi's, and I didn't like either of her two blond shades (and neither matched Maxis, unlike her other colors), but she puts her grey recolor in one of them, so I was motivated to find a solution that used her original file. ;) (The two disliked textures turned out to easily combine to make one I liked!)

Bodyshop lights.

If you want it, there's a bodyshop light mod that makes it brighter.

There's three files, each have a different level of brightness. I personally use the xxb.

I had all my hair downloads perfect until I discovered your site! I never liked maxis textures. Now because of you, I'll download like crazy now and go on a maxis match hair hunt! I hate you for making it look so nice and attractive.

Btw, sorry for being anonymous but I can't bother making an LJ account just to post comments... Oh and thank you for sharing your amazing creations!

Keep up your lovely (but evil) work. -illy

Craps. Box.net is experiencing typical difficulties *cry*. I'll have to dl them later. My poor simmies will have to go bald in the meantime. j/k ;)

[identity profile] simgaroop.livejournal.com 2009-04-10 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)

Box.net has been having issues since yesterday. It comes down and up frequently, so I assume my files will be back soon.

I often wonder where should I upload my stuff, considering that a lot of people have issues with Mediafire, Rapidshare is full of fail (at leas to me, it never works) and I dislike the waiting issues with 4share :P.

Well, at least all these services are free. So I shouldn't complain that much :)

[identity profile] cheesesmelqueen.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no! All of your boxnet stuff is out of bandwidth. Did you upload the hairs to anywhere else or should I just wait for the bandwidth to reset or whatever the heck it is that bandwidth does? All your hairs(and other creations) are so great, good job!
