The Broke Legacy: Generation 2.3.

Previous update : Gen 2.2.

One year after our wedding, life in the Broke household had become quiet and... normal.

Well, as normal as it can be with an alien kid in the family.
Both Henry and Cosmo were in the verge of teenage hood, so they spent most of their time talking about the neat things they'd do when they grew up.

I adopted Henry a couple weeks after the Wedding. He'd never call me his father (that was a title reserved for Dirk only), but I guess we loved each other as if we were related by then.

Of course, Lilith adopted Cosmo too. After the Reneé fiasco, Cosmo wasn't ready to open himself to another girl the way he did in the past.
Nonetheless, he recently started calling Lilith "Mom", now and then.
He still was as nice as he had always been, and a bit of a bookworm.

My lovely wife was not only an excellent mother, for she was also a respected politician at Strangetown.
The elections for Mayor were just around the corner, and she was a strong candidate for that spot.
We had spent most of the year helping in her campaign and her speeches about protecting the alien population of this town won her many supporters.

In the end, we had adjusted to our new life as a family.
And we did the kind of stuff all normal families did.
Like having pancakes together on Sunday mornings.

Fishing.

And watching the new TV we had bought a few weeks before.
We rented a lot of alien movies for Cosmo.
Maybe E.T. or the guys at Men in Black weren't like the people at Graslax, but they were enough for my son.

So in general, life was stable.
But things weren't destined to stay that way.
For some huge changes were approaching our family in the neat future.

The largest change being the imminent arrival of a new baby.

We were worried that the boys wouldn't like the idea of a new brother or sister.
We were glad to see that wasn't the case.
Cosmo and Henry were thrilled.

The next change arrived when Lilith was six months pregnant.
Henry became a teenager.
After his difficult childhood and his father's death, he had realized that life was too short to waste it worrying for everything.
He vowed to enjoy his life to the max and to seek pleasure everywhere.

Cosmo was also getting ready for his transition into teenage hood in a few months.
He had been taking frequent naps lately, which had me worried.
When I asked P.T. if that was normal, he told me that when Graslaxian children were close to adulthood, they needed to sleep a lot.
They needed to save energy for the huge effort from the sudden grown they experienced at their 168th Full Moon would be.

Lilith and I were excited for having our first son together.

Despite our jobs and the time raising to preteens required, we still found time to be together.
"You've turned me into a sap, Beau Broke"

Lilith bought an easel during her pregnancy.
Due to her maternity leave, she spent a lot of time at home, but she wasn't the kind of woman who sat down to knit baby socks.
No Sir, she always wanted to learn more things, to improve herself in order to reach the top as sooner as possible.
Therefore she decided to learn to paint.

She discovered that she actually had talent for that.
And for my 40th birthday, she was preparing a surprise.

I confess it was a bit odd to see myself in a canvas, but Lilith said that it could be the beginning of a tradition.
"The Pleasant Legacy works like that. We had portraits of past Pleasants back at home. Wouldn't be neat if this was the start of a Broke Legacy?"
Me? Starting a Legacy? Please!

Angela called everyday to check on her sister's pregnancy.
Remember the big news she had for my brother?
Well, she had given birth to their second son, Skip, a few months ago.
For a while, both sisters talked to each other to complain about pregnancy issues every day.

Lilith had a difficult pregnancy, especially during her last trimester.
She barely had energy to eat, and often fell asleep on her plate.
I used to do that right before Cosmo's birth...

Of course I remember how tiring and difficult a pregnancy can be.
Lilith often said that it was hilarious to have a husband who perfectly understood what she was feeling.
I was just glad that this time it wasn't me the one who had to endure that.
I had enough back then and, despite the joy that Cosmo represented in my life, I wouldn't do that ever again.

But I still took good care of Lilith.
I let her sleep until late.
And often baked her cheesecakes, her favorites.

"I think I've become my mother, Beau. She says she also had this odd cheesecake craving when she was expecting Angela and I."

Seeing that our sons were older and ready... I gave them "The Talk" one Sunday night.
I had no trouble with Henry.
But when Cosmo asked me how I had gotten pregnant with him, I nearly chocked.
"So... what did the P.T.s do to you at the spaceship?"
"You know what, Cosmo? I think I'll tell you once you are 50."

The baby's arrival was due in just a few days.
I didn't think I could wait that long to meet him.

Actually I didn't have to.
Lilith woke up at 5 A.M. the following morning.
"Beau?"
"What is it, Lilith? Are you craving cheesecake again?"

"I'm actually craving a doctor, because it is time!"

Despite being overjoyed with the news, I didn't know what to do at first.

"Don't just stand there, Beau! Get me a doctor... NOW!"

But there wasn't need for one, because in that moment our daughter, Molly Broke, was born.
"She's beautiful!"
"Yeah... could you please bring me a blanket from her room, Beau?"

I did as she asked, but I had barely took a step out of our bedroom when Lilith called for me.
"Beau?"
"What is it, Lilith?"

"Could you please hold Molly for a few minutes?"
"Sure! Do you need to go to the bathroom?"

"Nope. I think there's someone else who wants to join our party!"
"What?!"

We didn't expect him, but nonetheless we welcomed our son, Icaro Broke, to our family with open arms.

See?

Icaro inherited Lilith's nose and my eyes and hair.

While Molly inherited her hair color, but also my eyes and nose.

Lilith took good care of our twins.
She fed them at the right times during their first days.
She said she now felt for her mother.
She never expected taking care of twins to be so tiring.

We all helped her, but eventually had to hire a Nanny.

Because Lilith's job as Strangetown's mayor was waiting for her.

"Could you please keep it low? You are going to wake my twins!"

One month later, it was time for Cosmo's 168th Full Moon.
P.T. told me it was a huge event in a Graslaxian life, so we made all the necessary arrangement to make it a special day.

Reneé came from Riverblossom Hills.
She loved Cosmo dearly, and wouldn't miss his special day.

P.T. and Jenny were also there.
Cosmo wouldn't be here without their help.

Soon the big moment arrived.

Cosmo was half human, though, so the party also had human elements like a birthday cake.
"Happy 168th Full Moon, Cosmo"

And in a blink of an eye, Cosmo became a teenager.
I guess in Graslax, becoming a teenager meant becoming an adult.

Following a Graslaxian tradition, we lighted some fireworks in our backyard.
They were supposed to inform the Mother ship (wherever it was... and I hoped it was far, far away) that a new Graslaxian had survived and reached adulthood.

Later that night, Cosmo approached P.T.
"Hey P.T.! Is it true that Graslaxians are fierce warriors who want to take over the world?"

I'd never seen P.T. so angry!
"What kind of non-sense are you saying, boy? Are you trying to disrespect our antecessors?"

"Huh? No! I'm just asking because that's what I've seen in the movies and..."

"Cosmo, you are one of the last Graslaxians. I can't believe you don't know anything about our culture. We are a peaceful race who highly respect the right to live from other species. How are you going to keep our culture alive if you believe everything you see on T.V.? I thought your father had raised you better."

Cosmo told me about his discussion with P.T. after the party was over.
"And he told me that you haven't raised me as a true Graslaxian. That I was just a green human and not a true alien like Andromeda and Sirius Curious."

"I'm so sorry to hear that, Cosmo. Unfortunately, I don't know much about Graslax, except for what little P.T. told me. The Curious brothers are scientists, so I guess it makes sense that they'd know more about your culture and how to raise their kids."

"It's not your fault, Dad. And I think you've made a good job raising me, despite what other aliens might think."
"I tell you what we are going to do. I'm going to borrow some books from the Curious brothers and then buy you a telescope tomorrow morning. It's never too late to learn about your culture, Cosmo."

And so I did.
Cosmo's intense life of studying and learning began that day. He swore he'd seek as much knowledge as long as he lived, in order to transmit it to future generations and keep Graslaxian traditions alive.
The months went by, and we still worked hard to take good care of the twins.

Cosmo and Henry were excellent older brothers. They often forgot their own activities or interests to look after the babies.

And then, it was time for the twin's first birthday.

During that year, Cosmo continued his studies.

Henry often joined his brother during his reading sessions.

Although his choice of lecture was a bit... different.

When he wasn't at school, Cosmo spent the rest of the time in the living room, reading.

And once night fell, he'd spend hours searching for his planet.

Except for the night the twins became toddlers.
And it was a disaster.
First, Icaro got sick and threw up all over Lilith.

So, while Lilith cleaned him (and herself), I helped Molly blow her candles.

Then, someone left a pot on the stove, and it caught on fire!
Thankfully, I had learned from my past mistakes and installed a fire alarm, so the fire was extinguished without further problems.

Finally, after all the commotion, Lilith helped Icaro blow his candles.

Lilith was glad that the twins looked so different.
"That way, they won't suffer the comparisons Angela and I had when we were young."

Finally, things were at peace.
What a night!
But then doorbell rang...

"Who could it be at this hour?"

I wasn't ready for what was waiting behind the door.
One glance at his face, and I was suddenly 25 years old again... surrounded by weird machines.

Greetings Earthling. I'm Pollination Technician 56 and I experimented with you 15 years ago.
I'm looking for my spawn, half-breed 4367, also known as Cosmo Broke.
I'm here to take him away...
New Members of the Broke Family (Plus Cosmo update):

________________________________________
Notes:
- Beau's still the worst family sim ever. When Molly was born he got the 8000 asp boost from his want of having a baby... only to then get a 5000 asp deduction from his fear of having a child. WTF, Beau? Are you out of your mind? Once Icaro was born, he rolled the want to have another baby... and the impossible want of 10 babies. Besides, he never interacts with his babies. NEVER. Unless I tell him so.
- His Lucy obsession is gone, though.
- Lilith is an average Mom. She feeds the babies and sometimes plays with Henry. She leaves them on the floor, though.
- Poor Lilith... there's no way I'm achieving her 20 pet best friends LTW.
- Henry and Cosmo are going to be awesome parents. They both place the babies in their cribs and feed them. Henry even bathed Icaro on his own. Cosmo cuddles Molly and Icaro on free will.
- P.T. cracks me up: He got pissed off when Cosmo tried to talk with him about aliens, spaceships or paranormal stuff. Their discussion was free will.
- The fireworks part was my desperate attempt to improve Cosmo's party's score, because Reneé kept fighting with Jenny and Cosmo discussing with P.T. It worked :D.
- I love the toddlers. Both are so sweet, although I'm afraid Icaro inherited Lilith's nose (and therefore will end like Henry... just wait until you see him as an adult in the next update :S).
- Icaro's name is a lame inside joke: That's Beau's name in the Spanish version of The Sims 2, the one I first played a long time ago (then lost the CD and only found the English one).
- Thanks for reading! :)
